Arts Council Announces Annual Grant Recipients The Utah Arts Council, a state agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development, recently announced its annual grant awards for fiscal year 1 1 - 1982. The council awarded funds totalling $784,800 to 58 arts orua n ia tions throughout Utah. The Kimball Art Center is (he recipient of more than $28,000 in grant monies. The awards were made u nd ' ' ' Arts Council's A u a I . grants prutrjui. This program awards funds in discipline areas for projects which impact individual communities or the entire state. All grants must be matched by the grantee on a combination cash and in-kind basis. In discussi lg the grants budget for fiscal vear 1981 -1982. Walter G. Smith, chairman of the Utah Arts Council, noted that Utah's historical dedication to preserving its artistic heritage has again risen to the occasion. "The Legislature in its wisdom has realized how important the arts are in times of stress, and we arc most grateful that this year's allocation makes it again possible for the council to cintinue to support our state's cultural treasures." |
