Show City Officials Study Park Ave. Report According to City Attorney Tom Clyde, the report from Ed Nurse, the specialist on road building, has placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of Bush and Gudgell, the City engineers, for the failure of Park Avenue. Clyde, City Engineer Engi-neer Mike Vance, and representatives of Bush and Gudgell met yesterday to try to determine whether or not there could be a negotiated settlement of the matter, or whether it would have to be decided in court. Clyde, Vance and Ed Nurse are scheduled to meet tonight in executive session, even though there is no City Council meeting scheduled, to try to make the final decision on which way the City should proceed with the matter. Nurse is supposed to bring with him his final report on the construction problems together with his recommendation as to what course of action the City should take to remedy the situation, although it has apparently already been decided the road will be redone as soon as the weather permits. There had been speculation the City would wait to repair the road until the State highway went in this summer sum-mer but evidently that possibility is no longer viable. The only thing which might alter the present plans is if the City decides to litigate the issue, in which event the reconstruction might have to be put off unless it were done by another company. |
