Show Visions Of Struggle By PAM JOHNSON I This year Seminary Church H History i students of the district I cant can't say the first part of Teachers' Teachers Institute vacation was boring for a hour 12 trip was taken Thursday Oct 10 Linn Rich who is in charge of senior class activities in the Seminary helped plan this trip STUDENTS met at the Bountiful Boun Boun- Seminary some at and others at am a.m. where a devotional was held after which the students boarded buses for the trip trio I The group reached Henefer where a hearty breakfast was eaten Next they toured the interesting DUP pioneer mu mu- seum They reached through tedious effort the top of Echo Canyon where the Mormons erected fortifications against the Johnsons Johnson's army who declared declared de de- war on the Saints Lone LoneTree LoneTree LoneTree Tree Camp and Summit Summit Summit Sum Sum- mit was where wagon trails were seen LUNCH WAS eaten at East Canyon Big Mountain where Brigham Young first looked down upon that desolate Salt Lake Valley and said This is the place gave all of the students students students stu stu- dents a thrill because of the faith these saints must have nave had to live in this barren state I dont don't think anyone forgot the particular time of that day because we took a 16 mile hike to Camp Grant in Little Little Lit Lit- tle Mountain Summit We all realized the hardships the Saints must have borne crossing the plains THAT LITTLE hike could give us only a glimpse of their situation but our faith and appreciation appreciation appreciation ap ap- increased as we realized realized re re- re that they were persecuted ed so we could have the Gospel and its freedom The last place toured was The Last Camp Monument on Donner Hill We then met at the This is the Place monument to hear an excellent talk by Bishop Bishop Bishop Bish Bish- op Robert L. L Simpson His words inspired me greatly He said that we should endure to the end and live good as our pioneers did HE SAID we must leave the upcoming generations something something some some- thing which our pioneer ancestors ancestors ancestors an an- did not leave to us for they died to give us We can leave our children children children chil chil- dren tr true e and complete records of our church and life and give the next generation new We must set the example of having family prayer and home evenings Our children must be pre- pre pared to meet God by living the United Order for trials and struggles will come to to today's today's today's to- to days day's saints as they did in days of old Bishop Simpson expressed his love for our di divine divine die di- vine Prophet David 0 O.
