G Briscoe former Cormer in Be-in- High School instructor now working on his doctorate at the University of Utah who outlined outlined outlined out out- lined briefly the five Constitutional Constitutional Constitutional amendments which will appear on the ballot in the November November November No No- vember election They are No 1 An annual meeting of the State Legislature Legislature Legisla- Legisla ture instead of one each two years as at present No 2 2 Amend the Constitution to give a pa pay raise to legislators No 3 The Green Belt proposition which has to do with unfair taxes on farm land near large business areas No 4 Extension Extension Exten Exten- Extension sion of Freeport at Clearfield Freeport was an amendment voted into law a number of years ago and to date has been beena a benefit to the state No 5 Liquor by the drink which proposition has two main phases tourism for Cor taxation on one hand and a moral issue on the theother theother other i MR BRISCOE urged a careful careful careful care care- ful study be made by voters of i these amendments which will affect state government He said the first three are vital to I Ithe the state whereas the last two are controversial and should be carefully studied I The meeting was conducted by Pres Mathis Reports of the state convention were made by Mr Mathis lathis Mrs Bertha Muir I Miss Agnes Peterson and Earl Sessions All members were asked to procure a new member member member mem mem- ber for the organization I MR MATHIS was elected state president of the organization organization organization I at the recent convention I Refreshments at the chapter meeting were served by Mrs Joe Day assisted by Mrs Murray Murray Murray Mur Mur- ray Davis |
