C I Yancey President Bountiful I Community Concert tion The Yanceys have been residents residents resi residents resi- resi dents of Bountiful since 1960 I and are delighted with the community We hope to stay in the area the rest of our lives Mr Yancey observed I MR YANCEY is an energetic i and progressive businessman He is claims manager for American Agencies Inc and supervises the three state-area state of Utah Idaho and Montana He was aptly trained for his position by his educational training a at BYU and Woodbury College in Los Angeles receiving receiving ing his BA degree in business management illS HIS EARLY education was accomplished in the Idaho Falls area Later he spent 25 months in the navy during world war II with much of the time being spent overseas overseas After his discharge from th the e armed service he served a year three-year mission for th the e Church of Jesus Christ of Lat Lat- ter-day ter Saints to the Argentina Argentin a mission I WAS motivated into m my Y profession because of earl early 5 training while working for m my p father Mr Yancey admitted When I was very young h he e used to let me help him estimate esti estimate I esti-I mate jobs and to add figures From this I became interested in the world of business and later decided that my natural talent was in in this field Mr Yancey keeps physically fit through his participation in several sports He enjoys golfing golfing golfing golf golf- ing and fishing whenever time permits He and his wife have learned to love flower garden garden- ing MR YANCEY says During i the summer we have fresh cut flowers in the house every day The family takes great delight in raising much of their own fruit peaches apples and cherries cherries cherries cher cher- ries and often share these delicacies delicacies delicacies deli deli- with their friends If I have any time left a aI I good novel can also captivate my interest Mr Yancey conI confided con con- I It is a love of good music music music mu mu- sic which brought my wife and myself together HE liE OFTEN OFfEN sings solos which he enjoys and he also sings with a male quartet with his wife at the piano I believe in in I exposing children at an early age to good music he commented commented commented com com- and the Community Concerts is one way to do this Harold and Ruth Yancey have four children She is is a wonderful wonder wonder- ful homemaker especially with cooking and musical talents THE CHILDREN ARE John 16 who attends Viewmont High Stephen 14 who is a student atthe at atthe atthe I the School for the Blind in Ogden Ogden Og- Og Ogden den Laura 9 and Robert RobertS 5 attend attend attend at at- tend the Tolman Elementary School The Yancey family are active members of the Church Harold has served as a bishop in Missoula Mont before moving moving moving ing to Bountiful He is currently current current- ly serving on the High Council in the Bountiful Stake MR YANCEY gave the following following following fol fol- lowing words to live by Be careful of what you say or do you might be someone's ideal i I never lacked for a good example example example ex ex- ample in my home when I was I growing up and I certainly want my children to enjoy that I same experience in their lives WE IIA HAVE VE learned one of the greatest lessons of life when we learn to live not only for ourselves ourselves ourselves our our- selves but for those who follow Collow I Some of the greatest satisfactions satisfactions satisfactions men every achieve come ome not directly to them b but t to I their children These things I which we would have liked for Cor ourselves and which we have reached for or fallen short of I we often realize with greater joy by making it pos possible ible for our children to achieve i j In summary Mr Dir Yancey succinctly said Today is the first day of the rest of my life I will try to live to achieve to help as if it were my last i ii i 1 I |
