Show Primary Election September 12 A primary election will be held September 12 to decide candidates for both seats on the Summit County Commission up for election this November. Democrats will choose between be-tween Lloyd Stevens, owner of the Claimjumper Hotel and restaurant, rest-aurant, and Snyderville resident Ike Koleman to see who will run against uncontested incumbent Republican Bill Wallin for the open four year seat traditionally held by a Park City area representative. repre-sentative. Stevens fell four votes short of ensuring his nominating at last week's Democratic county convention. Republicans will decide bet ween Gerald Young of Oakley and incumbent Dale Leavitt for the party's nomination against Democrat "Dutch" Woolsten-hulme Woolsten-hulme of Oakley and Independent Independ-ent Bruce Decker of Park City for the contested two year seat on the commission. Young also fell just short of ensuring his nomination at his party's convention con-vention two week's ago. According to County Clerk Reed Pace, voters may also have to choose between non-partisan candidates running for the Park City School Board in September's Septem-ber's primary. As a result of a decision by the county commission to re-district re-district the Park City area, all five seats will be up for election this fall. If more than two candidates file before the June 28 deadline in any one district, said Pace, a run off will be necessary in the September primary pri-mary to narrow the field to two for November. Pace said Monday that only three candidates for the school board have filed so far: current school board member Violet Terry in district 1; Hazel Gun-derson Gun-derson in district 2, the seat now held by Jack Green; and current board member Ann Prince in district 4. No candidates had filed by Monday in districts 3 and 5. |
