Show Market to Close in May George Polychronis, owner of the Mt. Air Market, announced this week that the old familiar grocery store would close its doors some-time some-time this May. concluding over 60 years of Polychronis family involvement in the Park Citv retail grocery trade. Mr. Polychronis who had operated the Mt. Air Market for fifteen years, told The Record he made the decision to sell because he wanted to "take it a little easier" and devote time to his other business interests. George" operated the store on Main Street in the present Sunn Classic Building for nine years before building the new store on Iron Horse Road in 1974. Prior to the famil- "s involvement involve-ment with Mt. Air Market, Jim Polychronis. George's lather operated the Palace Meat and Grocery store in Park City for 40 years. The 15,000 square foot urocery store and underlying acre was purchased this week bv Park City Realtor Bill Coleman and well-known Washington lobbyist Tom Mathews for an undisclosed sum. Coleman and Mathews are scheduled to take possession posses-sion of the building and properly the first of June. Mr. Coleman told The Record that ihcy tentatively plan to con-. con-. vert the market into office space for either "one large icnnant or a group of smaller businesses." |
