Show EDITORIAL ' . Taldng State The advantage of living In a small town was accentuated last week when Park City High School's Basketball Team won the State Championship. The Record staff felt a tremendous sense or pride and closeness with players and coaches alike. In the not-too-distant past, the basketball and football teams were suffering from hard times. They were lucky just to win a game. The morale cou!dnt have been much lower. But a few of ; our ardent fans continued -to attend -and -support the high school's athletic endeavors in the football field and on the court - in hopes ofoetter times The past three years have-seen remarkable-improvements, thanks to wise administrative decisions and good coaching. The . long-awaited end result, occurred Saturday night in Provo at BYU's Mariott Center. Park High Coach Bruce Reid walked to center court and received the SuteChampionshtpTrophy. Local residents who yerepresent: to see -the Miners beat South Summit in the Championship game, and then to see the joy shared by students, players and coaches will not forget that sense for, quite some time. There is something special and exciting about being involved m the achievements made by the - local high school. And this particular achievement which culminated Saturday night was special, indeed; it was the first time that Park City High School had won the State - Championship in any sport. And we on The Record staff congratulate Coach Bruce Reid, Assistant Coach Gary A vise, and especially the determined 'X players who never said quit. |
