Show Wandering: Stream Comes Back Home The Bear River originates as a tumbling pine edged "white" water stream in the Uinta Mountains Moun-tains of Northern Utah. It flows northward to Wyoming, past Evanston, crosses into the panhandle pan-handle of Utah, back into Wyoming Wyom-ing and then into Idaho, where it follows the Bear River Range to Soda Springs. At this point the "Bear" gets homesick turns south and after 359 miles of meandering, empties 90 air miles from its source into the Salt Lake. Bear River is bridged in many places along its route. It is accessable at almost any place along its course, thus making it popular for both fishing fish-ing and hunting. The spring flood waters are stored in Bear Lake for irrigating 52,000 acres of fertile valley. |
