Show Robert F. Clyde Announces Candidacy for Slate Senate Robert F. Clyde, Republican State Senator from this, the new Twenty-sixth District, filed Monday for re-election. Under the new reapportion- ment set-up, the popular Heber City cattle and sheep rancher will represent Morgan, Summit, Sum-mit, Wasatch, Duchesne, Uintah and Daggett counties. The old Twenty-second Distr ictjust now being abandoned, included Rich but not Uintah and Daggett. There are about 36,000 persons in the district. "The Supreme Court decisions de-cisions on reapportionment have left us in rural Utah with only token representation," said Senator Clyde. "It is my hope that my experience in the House and Senate, combined with a desire de-sire to do as much as possible for my rural constituents, may provide true representation. Certainly I will make every ef-fort ef-fort to balance the new overweight over-weight apportionment." Senator Clyde served three terms in the Utah House of Representatives, Rep-resentatives, starting in 1960. He came into the Senate in 1966, and has established himself as a smart and sturdy proponent qf his constituents. He was minor whip of the House in 1964; assistant floor leader of the Senate inl9S6; and is now chairman of the important import-ant Senate standing committee on state offices anda number of the State Constitutional Revision Re-vision committee. He and the lovely Mrs. Clyde have seven children, and are active ac-tive in all civic and church affairs of Wasatch County. |
