Park High New Park City High School led by the brillant performance of 6 ft. 4 in. Junior, Brian Andrus, downed the South Summit Wildcats Wild-cats 82-74 in the first game of the 1972-73 basketball season. The Miners looked like a whole new ball club from last season with a fast break and a press that treed the weary Cats early in the second half. Along with the twenty-six rebounds re-bounds pulled down between them, center, Brian Andrusand forward, Bert Murnin garned half of the Miners total score with twenty-one points each. Don Evans and Bill Lindsay were also scoring in double figures as each of these players dumped in fourteen points each. Greg Goff, P.C.H.S. junior guard came up with six points and six beautiful assist-passes which helped keep the game moving at a fast pace. Good ball handling, also, by Gary Cooper, Randy Kummer, Bill Lindsay and Don Evans assured the Miners Min-ers of their first win. A few uncomplimentary comments com-ments were made to the referees ref-erees during the game as six technical fouls were called, three on the Miners and three on the Wildcats. High scorer forSouthSummit was forward, Russ Preece, with a total of 20 points. Next Friday, December l.the Miners will host the South Rich Trojans and hopefully t h e scoreboard will be repaired so that everyone can see who is winning and by how much. The following items were discussed dis-cussed or acted upon: 1. Present the flag ceremony before JV games. 2. Have all students sit upstairs up-stairs in the balcony, and reserve re-serve the downstairs benches for the town people. 3. Have each class donate $25.00 from their fund to pay for a Christmas film. 4. Have a raffle at the moving picture. Business establishments establish-ments will be consulted about donating prizes for the raffle. Mike Watts, Kelly Gee and Tom Mawhinney were appointed to consult managers and owners. 5. The council voted for the film entitled: "The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight." The voting was unanimous. If this film is not available, Bert Murnin will try to get, "Grand |
