Show ,ed by the University of Utah and the instructor was Cecile R. Johnson, a visiting artist in-resident at Snowbird. She is perhaps most widely wid-ely known for her 'Memorable 'Memor-able Mountain" series for Skiing Magazine. Her water colors have won many awards and have been selected for publication in the book, "Prize winning Paintings", as well as in the companion book, "Prize Winning Watercolors." Also the paintings on the inside of the Park City Resort Re-sort 7?-74 brochure. A native of Minnesota, Mrs. Johnson has studied at the University of Colorado, University of Wisconsin and the Art Institute of Chicago. Cecile has traveled throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and the Orient and some of herpaint-ings herpaint-ings were displayed atSnow-bird atSnow-bird Cliff House during the workshop. As a memberof theAmer-ican theAmer-ican Water colorSociety, she serves as chairman of Public Relations. She is listed in 'Who's Who of American Women", "Who's Who in the East". In New York she is represented rep-resented by the Grand Central Cen-tral Galleries, in Texas by Dallas North and in Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, the Newman Gallery. Gal-lery. Park City is not new to Cecile and she has done a number of paintings of the city, several buildings and the ski resort and she says she loves the mountains. There are three artists attending at-tending the workshop from Park City, Jim Stewart, Mary Ann Cohen and Judy Taylor. Wednesday, July 17, the workshop was held with Park City the point of interest and you could see them busily at work. Cecile made quite a colorful color-ful picture using her car as her easel as she sketched the Record office and on down the street. Cecile was most gracious in giving her time for an interview when she was so very anxious to be painting and I thank her. Cecile R. Johnson is indeed an artist at work on Main Street. The course emphasis centered on basic skills, techniques, composition, spentanity and personal style. Most of the work was done at Albion Basin and Gad Valley Val-ley and in Park City.
