Photo by Cassie development Stage Ends Park City Ventures extensive exten-sive new development program pro-gram is now in its last stages according to a company spokesman. The company has reached the ore sites and now must put in razes to mine the ore. This is just one step of the development program that began three years ago when Park City Ventures was reorganized. Yet to be completed is the Ontario Mill that will process the ore that is mined. min-ed. Target date for the completion com-pletion of the entire project is April 1, 1975. The company is still op -timistic that the date will be met although the project is running slightly behind schedule because of material shortages. When the project is completed com-pleted all the ore will be processed- in Park City at the mill then shipped out by truck to a loading station near Mount Air Market where it will continue its journey by rail. Upon completion, the mine will employ about 300 people. One aspect of the new development de-velopment project is a greater great-er emphasis on safety, according ac-cording to Joe McPhie, safety saf-ety director of the Keetley shaft. The Keetley mine has set a new safety record this year by working for over 120 days without a man hour lost. The previous record was 91 days. McPhie feels that the companies com-panies training program has a great deal to do with their fine record. New miners are trained in several aspects of mine safety before they are put to work in the mine. The company is presently employing 150 workers, and will need to hire about 150 more people if the mill is to be worked to its 1,000 ton per day maximum. Park City Ventures will train inexperienced young men in the area if they would like to make mining a career. |
