Show Woody Anderson Aids in Gaining New Tourist Referral System Utah's ski areas will have a new sales desk this year called the UtahSki Information and Referral Re-ferral Center, the product of the Utah Ski Association's Board of Directors who voted unanimously to eliminate the old Ski Reservation Center replacing replac-ing it with a Referral Agency. Funding for the Information and Referral Center will come from a prorated day-dollar assessment as-sessment charge to each member mem-ber of the Utah Ski Association. Each lodge or ski lift will pay a percentage of its income toward to-ward the $10,000 necessary to operate the Referral Center. The Ski Information and Referral Re-ferral Center will field telephone tele-phone and mail inquiries about Utah skiing. Unlike the Reservation Res-ervation Agency, it will not book skiers into lodges. If, for example, ex-ample, a caller wants specific information abut Alta the Re ferral Center will provide room rates and other information, then suggest the caller contact con-tact Alta to reserve a room. Written requests for 'general information about Utah skiing will receive a response that describes all of Utah's skiing potential. Only those facilities paying their percentage fee will receive re-ceive references. Should a caller request information concerning con-cerning a non-member facility, the Referral Center will simply reply that it has no information available. Woody Anderson, President of the Utah Ski Association, says, "While last year's Utah Ski Reservation Agency successfully suc-cessfully booked more than 2,500 skiers at Utah Resorts, we feel that the Referral Center Cen-ter can do a much better job for the state of Utah." |
