Show Council Hears Drift Needs Repair Petition Protests Street Benches $869.20. Respectfully submitted by J. T. McNaughtan. The Library report read as follows: 198 books and 16 magazines mag-azines were circulated, 24 used reference books; 255 visited the Library, $1.00 was collected collect-ed in fines and the Library was open 25 days in January. Councilman Hansen asked the attorney to prepare notices to all those persons who have garages on city property on Grant Avenue, informing them the City is going to widen the road in that area. They hope to move the garages and rough in the road this year. Councilman Gasparac reported re-ported he had met with the County Commission and a garbage gar-bage dump for the county was discussed. The payment for the dump would be based on a per capita basis. He felt Park City might do better by negotiating with the Mining Company and the Recreation to see what can be worked out on a dump for this area. He also reported he had asked about County cooperation on dog problems but the commission was not in favor of his suggestion. sug-gestion. The Attorney reported he had contacted Salt Lake City and they had agreed to help with the dog pound situation. He also stated Sandy City was willing to work out some agreement for picking up the dogs. A representative rep-resentative from Sandy will contact the city officials Monday. Mon-day. Councilman Burns reported the Planning Commission will meet Thursday at 12:30 in the Library. The regular meeting will be the second Wednesday of each month. Councilman Burns stated the Council had better be thinking about getting some housing for the city equipment. Having equipment that is inoperable in cold weather is costly and means a great loss of time for the employees. The attorney will check into getting a metal building. The payroll for the period January 16 to 31 was $3,109.85. This being all the business to come before this meeting, it was adjourned. Next meeting will be February 18, 7:30 p.m. Violet Terry Feb. 4, 1971 Mayor Sullivan presided over this meeting. All Councilmen answered to roll call except Councilman Durante. Attorney Turner, Marshal McAlevy and Supervisor Georgio were present. pres-ent. Minutes of the previous meeting meet-ing were read and approved. William Huhtala came to the meeting to report on the condition condi-tion of the water drift that he and Stanley Fisher had checked. He stated the drift is in bad condition and recommended that work be done immediately to improve the situation. Mayor Sullivan instructed the water committee to contact the mining company to see what can be worked out to have the necessary neces-sary work done. Stanley C. The Justice report shows there were 116 cases heard. 5 blocking roadway, 55 overnight parking, 4 improper lookout, 17 parking in no parking zone, 1 blocking garage driveway, 5 parking against traffic, 3 blocking fire hydrants, 1 failure to yield right of way, 2 failure to keep car under control, 4 parking in Police zone, 1 following follow-ing too close, 2 drunk driving, 1 destroying private property, 2 with no operator's license, 3 illegal possession of alcohol, 1 false identification, 1 public intoxication, There was $866.00 collected in court fines and $3.20 collected in court fees. The Council discussed the request and decided to contact con-tact other interested parties to see if they would contribute toward the advertising. Councilman Coun-cilman Gasparac and Earl Parker will meet with the Chamber. Gary W. Wilmarth came to the meeting to discuss water meters. He gave a brief explanation ex-planation on the merits of the meters and explained a little about the installation. Because the water committee chairman was not present, nothing was decided and the water committee commit-tee will meet with Mr. Wilmarth to discuss the subject in the near future. Mrs.. Carolyn Bloom present-.i eid a petition with 88 signatures " protesting having benches on Main Street. Another discussion was held with nothing decided. Councilman Burns and Councilman Council-man Martinez felt the 88 names did not present the true feelings of the people of Park City as they were mostly business people on Main Street. Mayor Sullivan stated the rest of the townspeople should have the same chance to voice their opinion about the benches and the subject would be tabled until the next council meeting. Anyone interested may come to the meeting to voice their j opinion. I Three applications were re ceived for work onthe city crew. They were tabled for future reference. A rooming house license was approved for John Dontje and a beer license was approved for the Powell Restaurant. The license for Steve Pugh's leather shop was tabled until the attorney can talk with Judge Fox. Councilman Gasparac stated he wanted the attorney to get all the pertinent facts pertaining to this case and give the council his legal opinion.
