Show 1 1 Nf I tr I r rY Y r rRICHARD RICHARD RD PROWS THIS WEEK Richard Prows President Richard Prows Inc 1 R am convinced that the total housing philosophy in the United States is undergoing a drastic change Mr Prows advised us It had undoubtedly been his keen feelings for the young family which have earned for him top honors and commanded national attention In the short span of less than 15 years I FEW BUILDERS have evere ever e experienced a more rapid rise from the obscure to the most outstanding in so few years Many adult buyers particularly particular particular- ly the men are becoming less enchanted with the upkeep of a house bouse particularly since recreational recreational recreational rec rec- opportunities are be becomIng becoming becoming be- be coming more readily available and as as acceptable alternatives to the single family detached home borne become available without the responsibilities measured In terms of comparable convenience convenience convenience conven conven- privacy space storage car relationships s status tat us etc he continued We Ve no longer build single family homes and have been building family condominiums to the best hest of our knowledge the first family condominium In the US U.S. ALTHOUGH Mr Prows was born in Wyoming he was reared In the Salt Lake City area and received his education In the City schools and also had train- train ling at the University of Utah for tor two years Much of his architectural architectural archi archi- training was accumulated accumulated accumulated through an excellent mechanical mechanical mechanical me me- drawing teacher at East High School and then I i through a n number u m b be e r of years working with a young architect as a designer salesman for glass companies two and one- one half years with a prominent architectural firm and approximately one year and a half with a display company specializing specializing specializing special special- izing with equipment and fixtures fix fix- fixtures fixtures fix fix- tures related to interior and exterior design In 1953 Mr Prows opened his Ws own office for residential design and after a few months he joined with George Daley a home homebuilder homebuilder homebuilder builder to design a good low- low cost home They located in Bountiful and were fortunate to find some same promising acreage in inthe inthe inthe the Val Verda area I I 1 WAS AB ABLE LE to buy option for tor which I borrowed on my car caro Mr Prows admits and Ill I'll always be grateful to Ward Holbrook for his confidence he lad had in an unknown for or it was quite a Ramble gamble for him to tie up his land for such little monetary consideration After a slow start the Prows- Prows designed homes created quite a bit of interest because of their appeal to the younger families Because sales were slow Mr Prows could see that a model home was a must and after some convincing he was able to get geta a loan from an uncle with which to build WITH THE Prows the model home many people were Impressed with the quality and distinctive styling and sales zoomed At a later date Mr Prows purchased Mr Daley's interest and some seven years ago he took in Robert W.
