Show juvenile ski tournament great success the record la Is indebted to mr frank lor for the following detailed recount account ot of the juvenile ski tournament held last sunday on treasure hill park city ski adapts entertained local winter sports fans ans with a display ot of ski manship last sunday upon the park city ski hill bill which surprised even the closes followers ol of the sport in the minim town the local boys did creditably well ard and surrounded themselves with much geoly lor for their efforts in the first ski tournament of its kind ever held in park cit cita when they rode down the hill bill out ovir the takeoff in rapid succession defying all chances tor for possible spills and bompa which are characteristic of 0 the espectaci liar lar sport aport the superb performance ot of the day was provided by arlyn halvorson when lj L made a remarkable standing leap ot of aj feet a leap which Is only 2 feet shor ot of the utah high school record ot of 57 feet held by don young ot of granite digil school harold gleason made the longest jamrs however but was wag unable to stay on his hid feet after landing he spanned 61 64 and 61 feet in two wonderful spreads but was robbed ot of a new record by unfortunate spills some very outstanding performers were found among the younger students fred graham an eighth grade boy made a beautiful leap ot of 50 feet over one of the small takeoffs the shortness of the landing space below the bump caused him to tall fall at the bottom ot of the hill but he was accredited a standing lump jump by the judges for his mighty efort effort I 1 among those who showed wonderful skiing ability for their age were bobble bobbie k er bobble bobbie dabling ralph young melvln melvin pletcher fletcher albert johnson bob diamond keith nell harold williams wallace mcclellan and windell despain they however are only a few of the many jumpers who will develop into some expert ski riders if they practice continually tor for a few years claus class honors were won by lincoln school seven of the eight classes in the lincoln school finished with the highest average ot of points jefferson school seventh grade won over principal bells seventh graders as their only class victory only one injury marred the otherwise perfect program harold taylor bad the misfortune ot of falling and breaking an arm just above the elbow lie he won first place among the seventh graders nevertheless erth eless for he had crossed the finish line before falling the bourna tournament m ent was sponsored by the I 1 wants club and the park city public schools the
