Show judge W 1 I snyder the following Is taken from the tha salt lake tribune of last saturday judge wilson 1 I snyder prominent attorney industrial leader and mining man died friday october 3rd ard at his residence 1351 east first south street following a lingering illness funeral services will be held at sunday at the masonic temple in charge ot of argenta lodge no 3 masons and interment will be at santa monica california judge snyder took a prominent part in the development of mining industry and until recently served as vice president director and general council tor for the gintic tintic standard mining alining company he was the author of a well known treatise snyder on mines an article on mines and mining to the american and english encyclopedia of law he was born 12 miles south of salt lake september 14 1856 the son of georgo george C and elsie jacob snyder his father came west from watertown new york in the california gold rush ol 01 if 1843 1840 and subsequently settled in salt lake and was active in utah industry judge snyder was a descendant of families that came to america on the mayflower his boyhood was spent in salt lake and summit county and he received his education in the schools of wanshin wanship and by private instruction he began the study of law when 18 and in the latter part of 1874 he entered the office of judge J G sutherland he later studied under judge E P F dunne and was admitted to the bar october 21 1879 opening an office in park city in 1901 he fettled in salt lake organizing the firm of snyder West ertelt snyder and wight bismark snyder his bis brother was a member of the firm he was married in 1877 in pleasant grove utah to miss cynthia brown daughter of bishop john brown a utah pioneer they had two children one of whom Is living mrs cora snyder ferguson of ocean park california his first wife died in 1881 and he married mrs elizabeth wells arrick a native ot of sheffield england she died in october 1921 he later married miss hannah lecompte of park city who survives him he was a past master of argenta lodge and a member of the scottish rite and mystic shrine he was a past grand master of the 1 I 0 0 F and was a member of the woodman of the world the remains were taken to santa monica menica california for interment in a letter received yesterday from alhambra california Is the following funeral services tor for the late W 1 I snyder were held tuesday afternoon at the mortuary chapel of todd and leslie santa sant a monica which were quite impressive an and d attended by a large number of former forme part park city people old time friends and admirers admirers of W I 1 interment Inter meni was in santa monica cemetery the pall bearers were judge J li street E S alexander prank frank shepherd john W gelger geiger dr A 0 evans and dr lawrence H |
