| Show DAM OF RESERVOIR BREAKS GREAT AMOUNT OF DAMAGE 13 DONE IN SOUTH OGDEN many freshets Fresh ets from fill the reservoir Reter voir over lt capac ity causing dam to give way the dam ot the large reservoir of stephen brothers in south ogden broke late saturday afternoon aal caused a great amount 0 damage the sudden deluge ot water from the ellla during the past few weeks caused the water in the reservoir to suddenly rlee above the capacity of the dam and the great pressure upon abo dam caused it to give away the water rushed down the hill upon washington avenue through thirty fifth and thirty sixth streets upon sulking the avenue the street car track formed a dam and the water rushed down the hill a raging torrent it continued along the east bide of washington avenue to twenty seventh and twenty eighth streets abere it was checked and its course turned down the canala and gutters for about a mile the street car track was almost completely covered with water on the washington avenue hill the torrent completely covered the car track with rocks and gravel BO that it was necessary to clean the track before cars could pass all along upon its course the water did great damage to many wheat fields lawns and truck gardens in other places the water camo up to the doors of many bouses for about two hours the residents residing on the cast side of washington avenue from twenty eighth burcet to thirty sixth street were unable to get from the car track to their homos the extent of the damage done by the flood will amount to several hundred dollars the dam was on the property of a man named sears and the reservoir la reported to have contal nel about fifteen million gallons |
