copper and gold per ton the disclosure was made in the leonard tunnel through which parnell ground is being opened up and after it had passed through about 40 feet of limestone superintendent smith reported 18 inches of this class of ore which also shows an iron excess yesterday with everything indicative of a larger body ahead meanwhile the management is forwarding a fair grade of copper gold and silver ore from the main working that affords the means with which to continue development 60 that the day of assessments is past A letter received in salt lake yesterday by N P dooley from B 0 mcdon aid assistant manager of the johnny at stateline Stat eline says the new strike in the willowdale willowvale Willow vale group is proving up most satisfactorily and that ore is now being sacked and is anxious to see the breaking of ground for the new mill plans for which are now in the hands of dederichs burke of this city and on winch active construction will follow in time salt lake tribune idaho this year will enter into a mining boom that will continue for years A result of this boom will be that practically every foot of the mineral bearing districts will be explored and the full mining possibilities of the state disclosed this was the statement made to a lewiston tribune reporter by george A weldon a colorado mining man who left a few days ago for the thunder mountain district such activities as accompanied mining booms of nevada colorado montana and south dakota continued mr weldon are to be repeated here throughout the coun try idaho is now looked upon by mining men LS the most inviting field for exploration and investment the other elates hare been explored but there the work haa been commenced it may not la generally known but it is a fact nevertheless that the central idaho mining region is the most extensive unexplored district in the world and all its possibilities are open to mining capital this fact is now realized by the mining world and experienced mining men and investors arc now turning their attention this way I 1 was surprised that lucli an extensive belt existed in this state until a few ago when ray attention was attracted to the state by the glowing account of thunder mountain since that timo I 1 have been gathering information and I 1 find that the field is not only still open to the quartz operator but that there are immense leeds of gravel that only require the introduction of capital to convert the prospects into producers A feature about the idaho belt also that makes it particularly inviting to mining men is the fact that the ores arc not confined to one mineral there are gold copper silver and lead prospects gold properties are now the great attraction with mining investors the silver lead and copper values it has been blown are subject to periodical fluctuation but gold always remains the game to go into thunder mountain district and may find what I 1 want there but if I 1 am unsuccessful I 1 will simply go into other districts I 1 know the character of the ores in several districts and have in instances accurate regarding th development of certain properties I 1 have no hesitancy in stating that colorado or montana in the early period of the mining industry offered no promise to a mining dmn than central idaho does today and I 1 am convinced that alic state will soon experience a boom of greater magnitude thai has been experienced in the west for many years the day of the operator lias struck alm state and idaho will undoubtedly now corpo rapidly ahead as a mineral producer the spark at nev Is now nearly ready to begin operations ex senator R F of south dakota has purchased the interest of former senator dorocy in the california king gold mine located twenty five miles north of yuma ariz on the california of the colorado river the mine li eaid to be one of the richest in that part of the country the como euraka mining property at como lyon county is being examined by experts representing linnca polis capital and should they report favorably extensive development work will follow that there is a large body of ore an fn the mine was demonstrated by ex work years agaj and with mod ern methods of mining and milling it 1 it can be profitably handled the work of driving the drain tunnel on the north i still progressing and thia tunnel will be as important a factor in training the mine of that district os the tunnel on the comstock Co work will probably ie resumed in the logan mine this month development work on other properties in the district is still in progress virginia report yesterday tho dietrich brothers who have been mining in the voltaire district for the past three months made a shipment of ten tons of ore to the selby smelling smelting Sm elting company at this rock represents the work of two men for three months there are many mining districts in the state that have not done as well and the best feature of the mine is the fact that the ore shipped averages nearly per ton the boys figure on a net return of a little over a hundred dollars a ton as they have been careful in sorting shipments made from the same ground at other times have netted about the same amount A great deal of second grade rock was left in the mine and considerable sid erable piled on the dump whenever a smelter is in working order close at hand this rock will pay a handsome profit the boys are busy at the mine taking out more rock and from all indications they have another shipment in sight carson appeal news from tonopah To nev shows that the new find at the fraction shaft proves to be even better than at first appeared and great excitement prevails at that camp the strike is a bonanza one another set of shots put in opened up the vein to six
