BOARD OF EDUCATION DATES SET FOR examination OF TEACHERS large number of applications for teachers received and placed on file the board of education met in regu 1 lar last night at 8 with members dee conroy joyce islaub and gwilliam present the minutes ot the previous were read and approved the finance committee reported having cash on hand in the treasury report adopted the sanitary tary committee reported the following contagious diseases ill alie city sixteen measles tac scarlet fever five smallpox the cases of smallpox are mostly nil transients report of committee adopted sir joyce reported eliat the various schools had been visited by the board during the past bupt supt alchon reported that everything pertaining to the commencement exercises is progressing very satisfactorily lie further reported that everything was in rendi nesa for the final examinations and that the promotion blanks and certificates were printed and ready report adopted 4 clerk kalapp read a communication from the central school supply com papy furnishers of school furniture etc the communication was filed for future reference clerk rolano also read n communication from county clerk and auditor C R enclosing a statement of th hoards indebtedness mith the count co S the committee on toa chera reported and recommended the examinations of teachers be bield ort the following dates first examination to be held on june ac 17 and 18 the second one to be held on august 25 ai and 27 the committee also recommended the examining committee be same as before namely bupt supt wm allison prof A E wilson principal of the high school and prof V R Christen tien principal of the grant reports and recommendations were adopted clerk read the following applications for the position of teacher mrs carrie ac rapp ogden J J valparaiso ind elias hou aan salt lake chag E well lincoln neb C L wild toledo 0 ajsa balla law northfield minn eva F ll amlin salt lake ida may driver ogdan leila L dark ogdan E E goodan san franciaco cal ida rob crag ogdan the applications were ordered filed for future reference all of the high school teachers were engaged for the next year except mi joyce and H S cooley mho did not send in applications to teach next year board adjourned
