Show FUNERAL OF A PlU KEEn SERVICES ARE HELD IN THE deec OND WARD THIS AFTERNOON this afternoon at the second ward meeting house were held the funeral services over the remains of mrs sarah ann bean an old and respected citizen ot ogden bishop robert presided and the speakers are from a number ot her old friends and neighbors her death occurred on july 19 at the residence ot her nephew william stilwell thomasr twenty eighth street the immediate cause being a complication ot dropsy and liver troubles mrs waa born in barton norfolk england february 5 1821 making her 79 years B months and 14 days old at the time ot her demise she lived her early life among the rural districts ot england until earby in the when she received baptism inthe church ot jesus christ ot utter day saints and in march ot 1835 left liverpool with a company ot fellow converts for america her early initiation into the trials of pioneer life was experienced at mormon camp near the present site of st louis in 1855 and to the other hardships were added the terrors ot the cholera epidemic ot that year the next spring she started with a company to cross the plains and walked the entire distance to the valley of the great salt lake here in 1857 she was united in marriage to enoch who preceded her in death thirteen years ago no children were born to her but in ministering to the wants and relieving the sufferings of others she was in a measure the recipient of consolation the highest eralso that can be bestowed upon mrs and the most trite epitaph on her life is to say that she was a true pioneer woman in all the term implies she endured all vicissitudes ot the life without a murmur helped to brighten the wilderness wid erness with the result of her own labor was charitable and kind and a loyal supporter of her adopted faith mew york july 21 rufus M stivers vice president ol 01 the national oar builders association of america Is head al his home in williamsburg burg of lie received a week ago by this bring struck by a cable carla city |
