Show THE TWENTY SIXTH INFANTRY PASSES THROUGH OGDEN IN SIX TRAINS six of soldiers and one of provisions passed through ogden this morning en route to manila the regiment consists of nearly 1400 men and Is under command of general rice who Is spoken of by the men in the highest terms of praise the first section got out of ogden at 1145 this morning and the last one was pulled out at 1130 a m the most ot the troops have been on the road for twelve days tho remainder ten days part of the regiment came from rhode island and part from plattsburg Platts burg barracks new york they travel in wagner sleeping care and are comfortably situated but the men complain about the meagre rations allowed them As they passed through ogden this morning very few of the men left the cars and there was no bustle and excitement cit ement they are taken out tor exercise abbottt once a day but are very tired of the long journey arma the last section of the regiment ran into a washout last night about midnight but fortunately no one was hurt and only slight damage done to the cars the majority of the soldiers have seen service before many of them having been in the cuban campaign they are thoroughly disciplined and a healthy looking lot of men the regiment embark tor manila in about a week after reaching san |
