Show ilfclnlEXES llip GAME Exciting Contest is Won by Millmen 5 to 4, After Nine Innings of High Class Baseball. Copper Fights " Hard Magna won a thrilling game from the Copper team Monday afternoon of this week at Utah Copper ball park by the score of S to 4. The contest was a regular scheduled affair, having hav-ing been postponed from Sunday, when the grounds were too wet for play. Bob Howard trotted out his star righthander, Robbins, to stop the Copper lads, and this he did although he had considerable trouble, for J Dunn kept the Magna players away from the plate with the same regularity regu-larity as did Robbins, with the result that the game was not decided until the last man was thrown out in the ninth inning. Robbins pitched a neat game, holding hold-ing the Copper boys to 9 hits, while Dunn was tickled for 15. Spectacular fielding predominated throughout the contest, with three fast double plays featuring. Copper registered first blood in the him to second, Swan grounded out to Ledingham on a close play at first base. Archibald sent a double down third base line, and Nielsen scored. Saddler again delivered in a pinch by smashing one to left, scoring Archibald. Archi-bald. Buckle started the last half of the ninth for the Copper with a walk, his third , of the, game, and went to second sec-ond on a passed ball. Santistevan flew to Henderson, Buckle going to third after the catch. Dow sent a long fly to Henderson, Buckle completing com-pleting the circuit before the ball arrived ar-rived at the plate. With one run behind be-hind and two men out, the Copper again made a desperate effort to tie the score. Muir walked and then Whiteley set the crowd on edge with a screeching single to center, Muir resting at third, and Whiteley tying up at second after the throw in. With the tying and winning runs on second sec-ond and third, Swensen was called upon to bat for Baty. He sent a stinging smack between first and second, sec-ond, which Archibald snagged after a hard run, and threw Swensen out at first, ending one of the most exciting ex-citing games of the year. Both teams played brilliant ball, but three errors being recorded. Swan led the Magna attack with four hits in five times at bat, while Muir boasted boast-ed his batting average by slashing out three hits. and was forced at second by White-ley. White-ley. Baty picked out a good one ' that went-to. the right field fence for three bases, scoring Whiteley. In the third the home boys clicked the plate for another counter. Santistevan was granted a life on Myers error. Dow tripled to the center field fence scoring scor-ing the Copper captain. Magna came to life in the fourth when Swan started hostilities with a two ply swat to center. Archibald singled to right scoring Swan, and and went to second on the throw in. Egbert popped to Dow, but Redman chased Archibald home with a clean blow to center. The Copper boys made the bell ring in their half of the sixth. Muir open-.- ed-with ar-sin-gle -and was sacrificed to second by Whiteley. He went to third on an out, and scored on "Red" Hall's two base knock to the left field fence. The visitors came back in the seventh sev-enth and tied things up again. Nielsen Niel-sen started with a single to center but was forced at second by Myers, Swan singled infield, it being his fourth straight , hit. -of jhe game. Archibald Ar-chibald lined out to Baty, and Wes Saddler was sent to bat for Egbert. The red headed Magna outfielder delivered de-livered with a neat single to right, scoring Myers.
