Show friisTS-Tonns The month of August is close at hand, and whetner the county commissioners believe it or not, the month of September follows it within 31 days, and with the month of September comes the first cold weather, and perhaps a snow or two, and with the snow or two and with the first cold weather comes the realization that another summer has bid us adieu, that another inert period is at hand, and yet the twisty and turny road leading from Bingham Canyon is still a twisty and turny road. Early this spring, one of the county commissioners declared that the road would be straightened straight-ened before fall set in, and the people of this district being 'easy' sat back and patiently awaited the arrival of the workmen who would give us a nice straight road put into condition for paving the following year. Ho-hum, what fools we mortals be! The road is still as twisty and turny as it ever was and the only people who have traveled over it, as far as is known, are those unable to assist in the straightening out, process. The people of this section of the United States are the best natured in the world. They will do anything to assist in keeping up the betterment of Bingham Canyon, but they are peculiar in the fact that they want what they want when they want it, and are considered quite mean when promised a thing, and find they have been fooled. This is just what has happened to the people concerning ' the straightening of the road. They have had promises all summer and now that the Summer is wan-ing wan-ing into fall they are still being fooled. If the county commissioners commis-sioners are going to do something about the fixing of the road let's see what they are going to do. Let's see if they mean business. Let's see whether they are kidding kid-ding or whether they are merely trying to slip one over. Several phone calls to the county coun-ty commissioner disclosed the fact that they had all the inte-tioas inte-tioas .in the , world to straighten the road but intentions do not appeal ap-peal to the people of Bingham Canyon. What they want is action. ac-tion. If the county commissioners do not feel as though they can fix the road let them say so, and if they are going to do something, let them get busy. The people of this camp, for the most part have a vote, and it is a certainty they will use it next fall, when the commissioners come to this town and with outj stretched arms declare "that they have always had a warm spot in their heart for Bingham Canyon, that they feel they are one of us." Perhaps the county commissioners commis-sioners do not know it, but it is a fact that we have plenty of good orators right here within the city limits, and when we want to hear a speech we can call on them for, a few remarks. What the people of Bingham really want of the county commissioners is action. They do not ask for the impossible, impos-sible, but they do ask for what is rightfully theirs. And that's that. |
