Show i This fellow Larsen is doing some great work with the willow ,and he fields like a big leaguer. Walbeck made a great catch of Cooper's short fly to left in the third inning. Stedman robbed Gibbs of a hit in the third with a nifty catch of his fly to right field. Playing a brand of ball that Arthur failed to conceive, the Miners had but little trouble in annexing the contest, con-test, the Millmen being held completely com-pletely at bay by the sterling pitching pitch-ing of "Boob" Burrows, who allowed but two hits in the six innings, and both were of the luck variety. His hook ball was working to perfection per-fection ,and when the skies became heavily laden with black clouds he started his fast one to working, with the result that the enemy were never within striking distance. But one Arthur man was able to reach second base, and this came in the second inning, when Burrows hit Larson and then made a wild pitch. Cooper, Arthur ace, took the mound for the visitors, and was greeted with some healthy swats in the initial frame. With two men out, Walbeck tripled to the center field fence. Fleiger Fleig-er was purposely passed, and then he and Walbeck executed a perfect double steal. Larsen again showed his ability to hit in a pinch by smashing smash-ing out a hit to center, scoring Fleiger Two more runs came in the fourth when Larsen started the frame with an infield hit to third base. Anderson Ander-son laid down a perfect bunt, and both runners were safe. Bosone bunted, but Larsen was called out at third on a very close play. Anderson Ander-son took third on a passed ball. McBride Mc-Bride sent one to Webb, whose throw to the plate was a trifle late, scoring Anderson, and then Barrett let the Summary Stolen bases: Fleiger, Walbeck, McBride. Three base hits: Walbeck. WHAT WE SAW Too rainy for a real game, but the Apex boys showed a world of stuff. Umpire Barber called the game in the sixth with Apex at the bat and two out, when another cloudburst took effect. It was the sensible thing to do, as the grounds were getting sloppy from the storm that came in the fifth frame. Burrows' hook ball had the visitors guessing, and with the coming darkness, dark-ness, his fast one played havoc. Quite a crowd from Arthur, but they didn't do much rooting. Walbeck tripled in the first, and Cooper thought it a good plan to walk Fleiger. Fleiger and Walbeck executed a perfect double steal for the first run of the game. Larsen who followed, sent a clean single to center, scoring Fleiger. ball get away from him, Bosone scor- 1 ing. The last of the fifth inning was held up fifteen minutes on account of rain, and when play was resumed, the locals started at Cooper with a vengeance. Taylor walked, Gibbs fanned, and then Walbeck singled to right, Taylor going to third, and scored when Hardy threw wild to third, Walbeck going to third on the play. Fleiger singled to center scoring scor-ing Walbeck, and went to second on a wild pitch, from where he scored a moment later on Larsen's third hit of the game. Larsen's hitting was easily the feature fea-ture of the game, aside from the wonderful pitching of Burrows. The entire Apex team played gilt edge ball, not one error being called against them.
