The nearest approach ap-proach to the supposed stinging snake Is the "Farancla abacura," t, small, harmless snake with a needle-like spine on its tall, in different parts of the South this snake, along with kindred species, is known variously as the hoop snane, the rainbow snake, the mud snake and the stinging snake.
