The Kiwanis Club and members of the Elks are busy these days getting the playgrounds in shape for the coming com-ing summer, and according to reports, everything will be in readiness when school lets out on Friday (today.) Members of both organizations have been spending considerable time of late, getting holes dug, and placing the. many things necessary to make the children happy. The swings, etc., will be laid in concrete, giving them a permanent place, and making them safe from the ravages of both children chil-dren and weather. Although no date has been set for the completion of the work, it is understood un-derstood that the latter part of this week-will find everything ready for the kiddies. The children will have everything that is needed to make the Bingham Canyon play grounds one of the best equipped in the state, five swings, with turning bars, rings, a giant swing, teeters, and slides being some of the material now ready for use. With the combined assistance of the mining companies of this district, most of the paraphernalia was made in Bingham Canyon, each company doing its bit, with the result that everything ev-erything in the playgrounds is made of the finest material and made in a substantial manner. It has been a hobby with the Kiwanis Ki-wanis club of Bingham Canyon to get the playgrounds completed and many members are seen each evening "doing "do-ing their stuff." The Elks, too, have been more than interested in getting the kiddies fixed up during vacation with the result that within the week all will be ready. The grounds will be free to the children chil-dren of the entire district, and it is said that the city will be asked to assist in getting a fence put up, thus eliminating the danger of children running from the grounds into the street. |
