Show qJociety SURPRISE FOR MISS VARNEY. Miss Mae Varney was pleasantly surprised at. her home, li",2 West Thirtieth street. Tuesday evening by a jolly crowd of young folks. Games, music and dancing were the amusements amuse-ments of the evening, after which a dolnly luncheon was served bv Mrs. James Varney, assisted by Mrs. M. W ilde. The rooms were beautifully decorated with potted plants and roses, a huge )nvl gracing the center of the table. Those comprising the party were: Misses Hazel Wilde, Margaret Henderson, Alice Clifton. Lillle Hampton Ruby Salt. Mary Young, Magcie Hunter, Christina Hunter, Nellie Varney, May Hall and Emma Hall. Messrs Harry NaMell, Robert How ley. Vei n Bullough, George Young. Robert Hunter. I Last evening nt the hmo of Wll- 1 llam Low, 2s:i9 Ijncoln avenue, was celebrated the S7th birthday of Grandma Grand-ma Hooper High five was the diversion diver-sion for the evening. Head prizes were won by Mrs. Leon Farr and Mr. Dave Terry, and Mrs. Addle Angel I and Walter Crowther consoled themselves with the booby prizes. After supper tho crowd dispersed, 1 wishing 'grandma" many happy returns re-turns of the day if she so desired. Healy and Mrs. Jack Lynch entertained about seventy guests at a theater party at tho Orpbeum this afternoon, and following the performance perform-ance a delightful social hour, during which temptliig refreshments were served at the pleasant Healy home, was nn additional enjoyublc feature of the afternoon. Mrs. Leveret t of Spencer, Idaho, is1 tin guest of Mrs. II. II. Spencer during dur-ing this week. Mrs. G. E. Ames came up from Salt Lake to attend the birthday of Grandma Hooper. Mm.
