Show WEBER CLUB STARTS WORK The inclement weather of thla afternoon aft-ernoon did not deter Uie building ' committee of the Weber club In . breaking ground for the proposed club ' house to be erected on Twenty-fourth rtreet, just east of the Episcopal ; church property. Tho ceremony, I though shortened by the rain, took J place at 1 o'clock. Fe... chairman or tho j I committee, who carried with him a. j shovel. After a few remarks by Mr. I . Tell and by President A. R. I ley wood. I tho former pushed the shovel Into j j the mud and reverently threw a few . j pounds of real estate In an empty I j wagon that stood near by. Others In turn followed until fifty shovelsful of dirt had been thrown into tho j v agon. Tho amateur excavators were all of the opinion that the wagon was one left there for the purpose by J. T. O'Nell, tho contractor, wno is to flu-Ivh flu-Ivh the work of excavation aud build the foundation It chanced that the wagon belonged to another party and that this party I in leaving the vehicle there had no in- I ttntion of having it filled with dirt. hile this incident was not scheduled it caused only amusement and no harm and the wagon was hauled away o'id dumped. Following the breaking of ground i the building committee repaired to the ciub rooms where a banquet was served by .Mr. Fell and the plans o the building discussed. j The excavation just started will be I 45x120 feet In size. The foundation will be of concrete. It Is llkaly that ! the real work of excavation will bo ' started by the contractor tomorrow and will be completed, together with I the foundation, by tho time the con- ! tractors for the building proper aro j icady to begin the super-structure.
