It developed that both Ad Wolgast, lightweight champion, cham-pion, and Tommy McFarland or California, Cali-fornia, fought the ereater part of thoir battle at Fond du Lac with broken hands. Before the end of the ten round contest, con-test, the champion complained of pain In his arm. which was broken In his content with Jack Redmond a rew months ago. Wolgast, arter the contest, con-test, declared that he woujd be unable to fight again for five months, possibly possi-bly more, on account of the Injured arm. On the other hand, McFarland, who took the match on two days' notice because Tommy Gary was unable to fight through sickness, jumped into the fray and fought the full ten rounds. When he left the ring, he did n t say anything about his l?ft hand that had been Tract nred b.low the wrist. Next day the hand was swollen to twice Its natural size. He had the bone set and the hand and forearm placed in a cast. Jt still is in the cast and will lie for several days. |
