Show TRAP FOR INSECTS IS GIVEN DEMONSTRATION. Device by Which Pests Are Caught and Drowned Exhibited In Liberty Park. Salt Lako, July 20. William H. Pool, 1C0 Sooth Eighth West street, demonstrated the workings of his patent pat-ent Insect destroyer to a number of Interested people at Liberty park last night, and many or the insects tnai have been making their abode In the trees and follago of the park were caught in the trap during the few hours the invention was In operation. The device consists of a lArge circular circu-lar tank, five feet in diameter and fourteen Inches deep, filled with water wat-er and set on supports bo as to stand about four feet from the ground. The tank Is made with a high guard on the back and is provided with a high power light which runs up through the center. The Insects arc attracted attract-ed to the light and, running against tho guard, drop In the water and drown. A variety of Insects were caught in the trap last night. Including Includ-ing the green aphis, the black aphis, codling moths, weevils and other destructive de-structive Insects. Mr. Pool claims that with a general use of his invention all these Insects can bo wiped out In a short period of time. He claims that It will catch any insect that flies at night. He Intends trying the machine In the districts where the lucerne weevil has been doing so much damage. Henry Heath, parkkeeper, witnessed the demonstration demonstra-tion last night, and says that with five of the machines Installed in the various parts of the park he can entirely en-tirely rid it of all the insects within two years. |
