Show Privates of United States ! Army Went Out in Small Boat San Francisco, Julv 25. Three privates pri-vates from the Fourth United States military prison gMnrd stationed at Alcatraz Al-catraz island, lost their lives yesterday yester-day when a yawl, in which they with three others had been Bailing on the bay, capsized in the treacherous Car-cjuinex Car-cjuinex straits midway between Angel An-gel and Alcatraz islands. Two of the men, Walter J. Thompson of Ohio and Lynn K. Ross of San Jose, Cal , were drowned and Alonzo Nash of Clinton, Tenn., died of exposure after being rescued along with bis companions, William Highsell, Ioster Hanson and Charles Bates. When the boat turned turtle, Thompson and Ross, both expert swimmers, started on the long swim to Alcatraz to get help for the four men who remained clinging to the bottom of the upturned craft Ro6s. realizing that he could not reach tho island, returned re-turned to the boat, but Thompson continued. con-tinued. He was never seen again.
