Jackling, general manager man-ager of the Utah Copper company, haa resigned as president of The lleld" Republican and ha offered his $80,000 worth of stock In the newspaper for sale. Is a persistent rumor which has gained wide circulation within the last week. Although Mr. Jackling will neither affirm nor deny the rumor, and Edward H. Calllster and Hiram E. Booth, general officers of the publishing pub-lishing company, sav they have no knowledge of Mr. Jackling' action, it Is understood from good authority that such is the case. It is said that Mr. Jackling will retire about the first of January, and also that a special meeting of directors will be held to take steps to amend the articles of Incorporation In order to elect a president. presi-dent. In the articles of incorporation the officers are to be elected on the first Monday in October, but this, according ac-cording to the report, will be amended amend-ed at the special meeting so that the directors enn fill the vacancy.
