Show ARRESTED ON WEDDING DAY To be arrested on her wedding day was tho fate doled out to Miss Lrena King, aged 17 years, of this city, who with .Mrs. Maggie Massey. also 17 years of age, was locked In the city jail on Tuesday, charged with stealing steal-ing a watch from Mrs. C. P. Dye. The two youthful prisoners were arraigned arraign-ed before Judgo Murphy of the munl-pal munl-pal court this morning, but because of their age wore turned over to the Juvenile court M.s. Massey is child-like in appearance appear-ance and might well pass for a girl of 15 years. She stated this morning that she has been married for more than four months and that her husband hus-band was out of the clt at the time of her arrest She wept as she stood facing tho court. Miss King, who Is several months older than her companion, com-panion, stated that she was engaged to marry John W. Rider of Denver and that the wedding was to have taken place on Tuesday afternoon. When the groom called at the Kinc borne for the bride he found that the girl of his choice had just been "pinched." The young man was so disheartened by the untoward turn of circumstances that he did not call at the jail to see' his fiancee, but left Ogden on the first train going to Denver, Miss King states that she still has faith In her fiance and believes that when she again gains her liberty he will return to this city and the deferr-weddlug deferr-weddlug will be solemnized. Just what disposition will be made of the prisoners by the Juvenile court is very uncertain, although It is believed be-lieved that neither of them will deny the charge of theft There is al?o a question as to whether the Juvenile court -has jurisdiction in the case of Mrs. Massey as her man Inge would legally take her from the category of minors so far as the juvenile court Is concerned. |
