Show LAUNCHING BOY SCOUT PVEUT A meeting for the purpose of organizing or-ganizing a Hoy Scout movement in Ogden was beld at the Weber club last night and w?u attended by representatives rep-resentatives of the various churches of tho city. It was tho first general meeting which has been held, and tho purpose was to get something started start-ed as a town movement and no one church or organization will be at the head of the proposition. It was tho opinion of all present at tho meeting last night that the proper prop-er action to take just now is the organization or-ganization of troops or dhislons of the Boy Scouts. There was a general discussion of tho proposition and it was learned that the plan was origl-r.uted origl-r.uted in England, where there are nearly 400,000 Roy Scouts, and since the plan was introduced in America four months ago 150,000 boys have been enlisted In the movement. To further the movement In Ogden a meeting of a general committee was called for next Weduesday night at 8 o'clock, and It will be held at the court bouse. It Is expected that at this meeting a detailed plan will be formulated. The general committee will consist ot the mayor, chief of police, superintendent super-intendent nf the deaf and dumb school, Industrial school and public schools, judge of the Juvenile court, probation ofllcer. Apostle McKay, pasters pas-ters and two members from every church In the city, the bishops and two members from each of tho wards and the presidents and counselors of tho four stakes of the Mormon church. |
