Show POPULATION OF SALT LAKE. The Salt Lake Tribune contains a significant statement on the census of that city. That paper has been claiming a population of 125,000, but this morning comes out with charges against the enumerators, enum-erators, asserting that the census takers are deliberately missing many of the people in an effort to reduce Salt Lake's representation representa-tion in affairs of state, j That is all nonsense. Salt Lake has approximately three times more population than Ogden. The school census, personal property I tax, number of buildings, area and other well known facts tending to prove that ratio. But Ogden. is not claiming 40,000 or even j 30,000, and it is mere "boost" to talk of Salt Lake containing more I than 80,000. |
