Show MAYOR GAYNOR'S IRE IS AROUSED New York, April 28. Valve wheels that the ordiuary person can buy at a hardware store for six cenU each, but for which the city of New York was called upon to pay $1.50 each, have turned the ire of Mayor Gaynor against two employes of the corrections correc-tions department, a purchasing ageut and a warden who certified the bills. Both men have been summarily dismissed dis-missed at the mayoi border and will bo put on trial. ' The thing is scandalous and I am not able to perceive the slightest ex disc for It," writes the mayor in a characteristic letter to the head of the department. "Such miserable thievery thiev-ery has to be t;ot rid of in some way." |
