Show LYNCH WANTS iJOffllCISi New York, Jan. 2S. President Thomas J. Lynch of the National league lea-gue today leaned a statement asking clnh owners to refrain from criticising critic-ising the schedule committee rntll ita work shall be laid before them at their annual meeting. Incidentally. President Lynch regrets re-grets that President Charles V. Murphy, of the Chicago Nationals, has seen fit, if correctly quoted, to criticise criti-cise the new rules now. in process of adoption by the Joint rules committee. President Lynch said: "If Mr. Murphy has been correctly quoted. I wish to Btaie that he is expressing ex-pressing only the views of Charles Murphy, president of one club of our league. He does not ieak for the National league. "No criticism of the work of the rules committee Is in order until the changes are officially promulgated by that committee and if I understand correctly, the provisions of the National Na-tional Agreement, tlje now1" of such committee Is absolute and its acts are not subject to revision or approval approv-al by either major leagues. Thin is as it should he. for tho making of rules should not he left to the prejudices pre-judices of Individuals or club owners. Th- private Interest of so league and no club were considered at the Pittsburg Pitts-burg meeting. The deliberations of the committee and the gentlemen of the press who were present were most thorougut and painstaking, and had only the best interests of the game thorough!- and pa'nstaklng. and had only the best Interests of tho game at large In view. I do not expect ex-pect the committees report to meet with unanimous approval, but I do expect the common courtesy of the club owners until they have something some-thing officially placed before them. ' The same views po for the sobd-ule sobd-ule committee. After four days work the national leagues representatives finished both a ICS and 154 game shed-ule. shed-ule. "The American delegate even tnnugh committed to a 154 game schedule were fair enongni to give up two da8 to assist us In framluj: our ICS game schedule. Both long and ahort schedules will be ready for consideration by the National league at its February meeting. Neither one of these schedules .Is common vroper-ty vroper-ty and. therefore criticisms of the labors la-bors Is out of order until the National league meets as a'body and selects the ecli-dule it considers most feasible." |
