Show ing of ffood roads, and there arc good reasons to believe that con-grass con-grass will grant this request. . 4 4. - The buUding of the tri-state road, which is to begin at the alt Lake and Davis county line, and ran north towards Boise and east towards Cheyenne, will be of itself a big factor in advancing Og-den's Og-den's be3t interests. This good roads proposition and the good roads convention to be held in Ogden next summer should enlist the support of every Ogdenitc. ANOTHER CONVENTION FOR OGDEN. The Inter-Mountain good roads convention will be held in Ogden Og-den this coming summer, the exact date to be fixed by a local1 board of control to be appointed by the mayor and county commissioners. commis-sioners. The recent good roads convention in Salt Lake City was composed com-posed of over 500 delegates, the great majority of whom were leading lead-ing businessmen of the inter-mountain country, including a great many ex-members of the Utah, Idaho and Wyoming Legislatures, j Mr. Dodge, the United States Government good roads director, ! who was present at .Salt Lake City, stated that these good roads con- ventions were growing larger and larger every year and that the 1 one held in Salt Lake was the largest held in the United States up to date of which he had any record. The county commissioners of Weber County are building a road to the Davis county line and the( same will be macadamized this j coming summer. It is proposed to finish the macadam in the pres-J pres-J ence of the delegates at tho convention to be held in Ogden. This j convention will include delegates from all the states between the ; eastern line of the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Coist and will J bring together in Ogden the leading men of all the states from the ; western part of the nation. j The fact that the Inter-Mountain Good Roads association has j made its first great move in the building of the great tri-state high-J high-J way, which is to lead from Cheyenne by way of Ogden to Salt Lake, ! . and from Boise, Idaho, makes Ogden the half-way house between I the two neighboring states. -v, The good roads movement means much to the country generally and much more to Ogden and .Salt Lake by reason of the fact that they will become the half-way stations. Every effort should be made to give these good roads builders such a practical demonstration of building roads .that they will never forget that it was at Ogden, Utah, they received the first practical lessons in road building. Never before has any of these '. road conventions actually built good roads, and it remains for Ogden Og-den and Weber county to give the first demonstration of good road , building. j There is very little expense in connection tyvith holding the good roads conventions and, therefore, there will be no burden placed upon our people. J At the recent convention in Salt Lake City, the only expenditure the local committee was put to was furnishing fur-nishing badges and buttons and a hall. There was not even a band present and the delegates were all permitted to take care of themselves, them-selves, which is eminently proper, as the convention is held for the purpose of teaching the people the. art and benefits of building good roads and each delegate should bear his own burden of expense. Of course, there will be advertising matter that will have to be .provided and a local secretary must be maintained, and it may not be out of order for the people here to furnish musjc for the occasion. I As a whole, this road builders' convention should bring to Og- ' den City a class of people that will give our city and state an advertisement adver-tisement that money could not buy. ! The Standard is informed that Salt Lake City did not oppose the holding .of the convention at Ogden. The spirit of good feeling feel-ing exhibited by the Salt Lake people should be reciprocated in the future. . ..
