Show . I OGDEN A MONEY CENTER. Ogden has become the financial center of Utah. Heretofore Salt Lake has been credited with that distinction, but of late the big borrowers bor-rowers in the state have been forced to come to Ogden. It is said, on good authority, that no city in the country the size of Ogden has the financial strength of this place, and this is true by virtue of the fact that three or four interests in this city are among the most powerful pow-erful commercial concerns in the west. The .Utah Construction company, the Oregon Lumber company, the Amalgamated Sugar company and other companies with headquarters head-quarters in this city, bring to Ogden each year hundreds of thousands of dollars which seek reinvestment, and they, with the big sheep Interests, the cement and other industries give to the banks a plethora of money and make of Ogdeu the financial center of all this region. Even though a dull period cause industrial and business stagnation stag-nation in the capital, Ogden, because of its impregnable financial position, po-sition, will go on improving. A city where so much new wealth is constantly accumulating, must eventually win a prominence far greater than that now possessed by this city. |
