Show . ONE STEP HIGHER. The promotion of E. C. Manson to-be general superintendent of the Oregon Short Line and of Thomas F. Rowlands to be superintendent super-intendent of the Salt Lake division of the same road, stands as the reward of men faithful to their duties. Mr. Manson, since he became a high official of the railroads, with headquarters in Ogden, has been devoted to the best welfare of his company. He has labored for the success of the interests he represented with the undivided energy and watchfulness that a successful suc-cessful man gives to his own business. He has been "on the go", all the time out on the road in his private car urging on his lieutenants lieu-tenants and moving his men to higher endeavor as a general does an army in battle array. No wonder he has won promotion. Such devotion wins promotion in any walk of life. Thomas F. Rowlands is an Ogden man and his recognition by General Manager W. H. Bancroft is a source of pleasure to the people of this community. We do not know of a more affable man in the railroad service, yet he is a strict disciplinarian and an excellent ex-cellent executive a combination of good qualities seldom possessed pos-sessed by one in Mr. Rowlands' calling. Mr. Manson has left him a strenuous record to emulate but there is every reason to believe Mr. Rowlands will be equal to the occasion and continue to retain the confidence of his superiors by his ability to do the right thing at the right time in all emergencies calling for experience, clear-headedness and a grasp of details. |
