Show SEVENTEEN ARE INJURED Scenic Railroad at Coney Island Scene of Accident New York, June- 22. Seventeen persons per-sons were injured, eight of them seriously, seri-ously, In an early morning accident on a Bcenic railroad at Coney Island. Although It was two hours past midnight mid-night when the accident occurred, the streets of the big amusement report were still thronged with pleasure seekers. One of tho cars on the scenic railroad left the tracks at the top of one of , the highest "dips," throwing tho occupants, nearly twenty twen-ty In number, to the pavement below. The fall offered innumerable chances for injury among the beams which form network of supporting timbers beneath tho track. According to the police, something went wrong with the mechanism of the car, which turned turtle, bounding down tho Incline and spilling its passengers on the way. The police reserves wero called out and ambulances am-bulances were summoned from tbo Coney Island hospital. Tho eight persons who were seriously injured wore taken to the hospital, while tho other passengers were cared for by private physicians. Two earn of the big switchback had filled and been hauled up the incline and the party, laughing and shouting, plunged down the first incline.
