Show BEET SUGAR -SEASON OF 19089 i ' OFFICE FORCE BUSY ON YEARLY REPORT. Contracting Season Has Again Arrived Ar-rived and Farmers Are to Be Paid $4.50 Per Ton. The office force of the Amalgamated -Sugar company is busily engaged in preparing the annual report of Its va-rivous va-rivous factories for the season Just .closed. Such is the magnitude of this work that nearly two months aie required re-quired in which to complete the details de-tails of the report. General Field Superintendent Job Plngree states that the company Is anxious that all prospective beet raisers rais-ers for the coming season confer regarding re-garding the matter at once and sign up their contracts for the year. The statement recently published to the effect that the rate paid next year for sugar beets would be $4.75 per ton was an error, as the price now contemplated con-templated wllljjc as formerly, $4.50. This figure, lt Is understood, will be paid regardless of the quality of the beetB, as has been the custom. General Superintendent L. R. Eccles states that the company lost considerable consid-erable the past season through tho low quality of part of the beet crop. At the Logan factory, alone, tho amount of sugar obtained from the total to-tal tonnage of beets delivered fell 20,-000 20,-000 bags short of what it should have been had the beets been up to the standard. This means 2,000.000 pounds of sugar. The extremely wet weather, coming on at a time when. the beets had practically prac-tically attained their growth, prevented prevent-ed the crop from ripening. It takes a very small shortage in sugar and purity pur-ity percentage, to bring the value of the beet crop below normal. |
