Show MURDER MYSTERY STILL UNSOLVED Detroit. Mtch., Jan. 8.- The murder mystery of Battle Run church, near Columbus, seemed no nearer solution when the county officials resumed their Investigations today than when they entered toe blood spattered church Wednesday noon aod dragged from the stove lumps of flesh and bones that appeared to be the remaining remain-ing fragments of a human victim. Rev. J. H. Carmlchael. pastor of the ehurch, and Oldeon Browning, the Adair carpenter who was the minister's minis-ter's neighbor, have not been seen since Tuesday. Various theories have teen advanced to show that the bones found in the stove belonged to one or the other of the missing men, but none of tho explanations ex-planations offered, seem to show any ; degree of certainty. It Is even suggested sug-gested that the red stains scattered over the Interior of the church aro not human blood, and the gruesome pieces found in the church stovo may bo from a cadaver, stolen from eouio graveyard. grave-yard. In support of tho theory that tho murder Indications are all part of a gicantlc hoax, tho assertion was advanced ad-vanced that the missing preacher was known to be carrying eight thousand dollars of insurance. |
