Show PROFESSOR CANNON i LEAVES HE IS TO ACCEPT POSITION IN WICHITA, KANSAS. Manual Tranlng Department of Ogden NOW In Need of New. Professor. rt will be remembered that rrofessor B. E. Cannon, supervisor of tho Man-unl Man-unl Training department of the Ogden High school, a few weeks ago tendered his resignation to the board of education educa-tion and the board refused to accept it on the grounds that at this time of year, so near tho closing of the public schools. It would not be an easy matter mat-ter to AH the vacancy. The board stated at the time that they would not now consider resignations from any teacher in the city schools; at the time intimating that they considered It unfair un-fair for a teacher under contract to render service to the school system for the school year to resign at this late hour. . The resignation of Mr. Cannon being be-ing turned down and he, no doubt, appreciating tho logical and businesslike business-like stand taken by tho board, withdrew with-drew his resignation, which meant, if it meant anything at all, that Mr, Cannon Can-non Jntended to remain with tho High school of the city until the end of the year, and It was understood by the board that Mr. Cannon would remain in the position until the close of the' school year. Notwithstanding this condition of affairs, however. Mr. Cannon Can-non at a late hour yesterday-afternoon notified Principal Cross of the High ; school of his Intention of leaving his work In the school and Immediately after departed for Wichita, Kansas, where he Is offered a'largcr salary and a promise of future advancement. Professor Cannon, it is said by his friends, fully intended to continue his work in the High school of Ogden dur- I Ing tho balance of the school year, but j yesterday, upon' receiving an urgent telegram for him to come to the Kansas Kan-sas school, decided to accept the po- sltlon, which he considered to be a better one than he had In the Ogden school. It is very likely that tho board of education will have to get along without v a supervisor In the Manual Training department de-partment for the "balance of the school j year, because it is too late now to find a new supervisor and, get him into the harness early enough to aid the students stu-dents In finishing the work before them. |
