Show SENATOR CULBERSON'S RESOLUTION ADOPTED Washington, Jan. S 13y viva voce vote, the senate today adopted Senator Culberson's resolution, instructing the committee on judiciary to report to the senate whether the president was authorized to permit the absorption of the Tennessee Coal & Iron company ; by the United States Steel corporation. Preceding that action. Senator Hopkins, Hop-kins, renewing his objection to the resolution, on the ground that the president pres-ident did not approve the act of the steel corporation in absorbing the Tennessee Coal & Iron company, moved to lay Senator Culberson's res olutloQ on the table ai soon as It wa: called by the Texas senator today. On that motion the vute was four tccn yeas and forty-seven noes, the yea vote being as follows: Burke Carter. Cummins, Curtis. Dixon, Du pont, Depew, Hopkins. Kean, McCum ber, Platt, Penrose, Richardson anL Wurncr. All of the senators voting to lay tho resolution on the table, were Repub licans and of the -17 votes against thai motion, 21 were cast by. Democrats aud 20 by Republicans.
