Tho tailor consented to give the bill tor the gold and silver, and handed Iho ft ranger a $20 bllL which the latter placed In an envelope, with the remarn that it was addressed to his sister, to whom he waa sending the money. Whon Lindgren counted over the money given him by the stranger he found there was only ?li He called the man's attention to the fact aud no rcted as though surprised and said that he had made a mistake. Then taking the sealed envelope from his pocket, supposedly the one he had placed the ?20 bill in. he asked Llnd-F.ren Llnd-F.ren to hold It while ne went and got another dollar.
