Each succeeding suc-ceeding picture contains Innovations In direction, settings and action. and revolutionary: methods of photography and technique This is true especially of "Fools First " It contains one of the most original stories It has ever been our pleasure to see on the screen, and it has been produced In such a masterly manner that It Intrigues the observer and holds his attention without Interruption In-terruption While -the characters in the story Rre chiefly denizens of the underworld. Nellan has made human beings of them, and as a result there is a naturalness na-turalness In the action that is con-vmcinK con-vmcinK There is a reason for everything, every-thing, and logic has not been sacrificed sacri-ficed for the sake of a punch or a Ithrlll. But the production Is so filled wlth terrific suspense that th. spectator specta-tor grips the arms of his chair with tensity. All In all.
