Show HAITI MAKES BID FOR TOURIST TRADE , PORX-AT -PRINCE. Haiti. Pec. 10. I Haiti is to have her first modern hotel ready for business by May ot next year. Until then she will be- far behind her sisters of the West Indies, for there is not a hotel In the island that approaches the standards of an American town of 25,000, to say nothing noth-ing or the splendid hostelrles of Cuba, Nassau and Jamaica. Business men of the foreign colonies here have combined with Haitian leaders In backing the new eriterprise. Ground has already been broken on the estate of Edward P. Pawley, on the Blolon Road, which is the prld-Of prld-Of the capital's picturesque suburban country The site overlooks the bay and can be resil hed from the heart Of I the City by automobile In ten minutes. With 120 acres running from the shores of the bay to the foothills, there are facilities for golf, boailns. swimming, riding, tennis and trap shootinir and magnificent VleWs of the mountains' and ihe bay.
